ROLE OVERVIEW
Part of our nautical team on our River vessels, the Second Engineer supports the Engineer in maintaining and inspecting technical installation onboard the Viking Longships. The Second Engineer reports to the Engineer.
WHAT YOU WILL DO ON BOARD
- Inspections of the ships’ technical installations at regular intervals
- Check and maintain the outboard engine of the rescue boat
- Inspection, maintenance and lubrication of the anchor and mooring winches, gangway crane and steering gear
- Joint responsibility for the cleanliness of the engine and technical rooms
- Support the sailors with mooring the ship in special circumstances
- Participates in company meetings, in- and external training courses and seminars
- Report breaking news regarding repairs to the technical department
- Compliance with all national and international regulations
Training Program: Second Engineer
- Participate in a tailored training program for 9 months, including a 12-day introduction campus
- Follow a structured training plan with the Engineers onboard and gain hands-on experience on the Viking Longship
- Complete a final exam and become a fully trained Second Engineer

ABOUT YOU
- Schifferdienstbuch for inland navigation with an Engineer (Maschinenkundiger) stamp
- Documented experience in engineering, or a certificate of completion / diploma from a technical school
- Language: English; additional language skills are an advantage
- Motivated to pursue further education and professional development
- Independent, flexible, and decisive — with ambition and initiative
